Adobe has just unveiled a suite of powerful new generative AI tools designed to revolutionize creative workflows. These tools, powered by Adobe Firefly, automate time-consuming tasks like batch image editing and video translation, freeing up creatives to focus on more strategic work. The star of the show is “Firefly Bulk Create,” an app poised to drastically simplify large-scale image manipulation.
Bulk Image Editing Made Easy
Imagine needing to resize thousands of images or change all their backgrounds. Previously, this would involve painstakingly editing each image individually. Now, with Firefly Bulk Create, you can accomplish these tasks with a single click. This groundbreaking tool combines several of Adobe’s Firefly APIs, making their powerful capabilities accessible even to those without coding skills.
Bulk Create launches in beta today within Adobe’s Firefly web app, offering two core functionalities: “Remove Background” and “Resize.”
- Remove Background: As the name suggests, this tool effortlessly removes image backgrounds. Users can upload files from their computer, Dropbox, or Adobe Experience Manager, and instantly isolate the subject. This feature is particularly beneficial for product marketers who need clean product shots. Beyond simple removal, the tool also allows users to replace backgrounds with a specific image or color (defined by HEX codes), generating multiple variations for further editing. Currently, files can be saved as PNG or JPEG, with Photoshop PSD support coming soon.
- Resize: This tool offers preset options for popular ad banner sizes across various platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. It uses generative AI to expand image backgrounds to fit the required dimensions. While the demo showed some warping issues, especially with complex photographs, the tool promises to be a time-saver for simpler backgrounds, eliminating the need for manual resizing for each platform. While similar tools exist in Canva and Adobe Express, Bulk Create offers a more streamlined, one-click solution.
Beyond Images: AI for Video and Print
Adobe isn’t stopping at image editing. They’re also releasing new developer APIs for Firefly Services that streamline video and print production.
- Dubbing and Lip Sync: This powerful feature can translate video audio and automatically adjust lip movements in 14 different languages.
- InDesign Automation: A new InDesign tool automates text and image formatting for both print and digital media using predefined templates.
- Digital Avatars: Coming in beta this month, users can create digital avatars using text descriptions and voice recordings for use in videos and product explainers.
The Cost of Automation
Running such powerful batch processing requires significant computing resources. Adobe has announced a consumption-based pricing model for these new tools, suggesting users will likely need a premium Adobe Firefly plan with generative credits to access these features.
The Future of Creative Workflows
With these new AI-powered tools, Adobe is significantly lowering the barrier to entry for complex creative tasks. By automating tedious processes, they are empowering creatives to focus on strategy, innovation, and bringing their visions to life. The future of creative workflows is here, and it’s powered by AI.
